ABOUT THE PROJECT
The simple functionality and family togetherness that ranch-style floor plans foster make these one-story homes popular for people in many phases of life, from first-time homebuyers to those looking to age-in-place. The intimate space is a perfect canvas for the homeowner to put their personal touch. This 3-bedroom, 1.5-bathroom home was built in 1958 and received a full kitchen remodel with new layout, new dry bar, full bathroom remodel with custom tile shower and accent vanity wall, refinished hardwood floors, a combination of stained wood trim and painted doors, Marmoleum flooring in the kitchen, a fireplace conversion, brick restoration, and more.
When working within the existing footprint of a home, it can be challenging to envision new layouts and improved functions when you have become accustomed to living with your existing configuration. With this particular project, the kitchen was drastically transformed by removing two small wing walls and relocating the refrigerator from one side of the room to the other. The new kitchen layout allowed for more countertop space in the work zones, less congestion, and an overall more spacious feeling. A cohesive design plan was considered for every room of this home remodel, improving function and storage capabilities while maintaining the overall integrity of the beloved ranch style home.
