LEAD RENOVATION, REPAIR & PAINTING CERTIFICATION TRAINING
The Home Builders Association of Marion & Polk Counties offers regularly scheduled live classes in Salem for Lead Renovation, Repair & Painting (RRP) certification.
Under federal Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rules being enforced by both the Oregon Construction Contractors Board (CCB) and Department of Human Services, contractors and others performing renovation, repair and painting projects that disturb lead-based paint in homes, child care facilities and schools built before 1978 must use certified renovators who are trained by EPA-approved training providers and follow lead-safe work practices. All individuals performing activities that disturb painted surfaces must be certified renovators or have been trained by a certified renovator. A certified renovator must also be assigned to each renovation and perform all of the EPA-mandated responsibilities of a certified renovator. Fines for non-compliance are up to $5,000 per day, per jobsite. Certification is valid for five years, and under EPA rules, certified renovators must take a four-hour refresher course prior to the expiration of their certification to avoid taking the full eight-hour class once again. Class LocationClasses are held at the Home Builders Association of Marion & Polk Counties offices, 2075 Madrona Ave SE, Ste 100, in Salem (next to Gilgamesh Brewing).
