Getting involved in a Home Builders Association committee is a great way to help improve your association while meeting and networking with industry peers
Education Committee
Charged with enhancing the educational opportunities and furthering the professional development of individuals in the home building industry, the Education Committee has oversight and responsibility for all educational seminars and programs offered by the association. The committee evaluates current programs, prioritizes requests for new programs and coordinates regular educational seminars for the membership.
Government Affairs Committee
One single person working alone may not have much power, but a group of people working together can accomplish a tremendous amount. Our Government Affairs Committee monitors land development policies, environmental issues, building requirements, and other regulatory issues face by the home building industry. The committee tracks new rules, standards, and fees as they are proposed on a city-by-city basis. These efforts keep the HBA membership aware of rule changes and educate local officials on the impact of their policy decisions. The committee researches issues and recommends advocacy positions to the Board of Directors and executes association policy on regulatory and legislative issues.
We also seek to promote a friendly building environment by supporting candidates for political office who understand and support issues critical to the home building industry. In addition to the more than $100,000 we raise annually to support housing-friendly candidates at the local and state level, the committee helps organize grassroots volunteer support from the membership for these candidates.

Membership Committee
The Membership Committee oversees the association's new member recruitment and membership retention programs. The committee conducts membership drives and both encourages and recognizes member participation in recruitment efforts, welcomes new members, conducts new member orientations, follows up with members nearing their non-renewal date and helps HBA staff develop methods to maximize the membership value for all members. Getting involved in the Membership Committee is an excellent way to network and receive recognition.
Special Events Committee
The Special Events Committee strives to develop and promote social and networking opportunities for members by hosing annual events such as the Builders' Trade Show Night, Golf Tournament, Tour of Homes kickoff party, Holiday Installation Banquet and many other fun activities.
