CODE CHANGE CLASS
Big changes are coming January 1st to Oregon's building codes. Traditional framing methods will no longer pass inspection and greater energy efficiency measures will be required. Stay on top of these changes and avoid getting burned by costly corrections.
ENERGY CODE
Big changes are coming to the new 2017 Oregon Energy Code, and your traditional methods of house framing will no longer pass inspection. Both headers and wall corners will have to be framed differently than in the past in order to accommodate insulation. There will be increased insulation requirements for walls, ceilings and floors, and perhaps most significantly, the options table has been entirely replaced with much tighter requirements. Additionally, all lighting will now have to be 100% CFL or LED bulbs and all plumbing fixtures will have to be EPA WaterSense certified. ADDITIONAL CODES A host of other changes are being made to Oregon’s structural, mechanical, electrical and plumbing codes. While some of the changes are more restrictive, many of the changes are positive changes that provide greater flexibility and options. WHO SHOULD ATTEND? All builders, remodelers, engineers, architects, designers as well as framing, insulation, electrical, mechanical, drywall and plumbing contractors are urged to attend this class to avoid costly and time-consuming corrections that will be faced by contractors unfamiliar with these changes. These code changes will apply to all structures permitted after January 1st, 2018, and are optional between October 1st and December 31st of this year. |
