2021 ORSC
Major changes are coming next year to Oregon’s residential building codes, many of which will force significant changes in building practices. The Oregon Building Codes Division (BCD) will soon be holding public hearings with the stated goal of adoption of the 2021 Oregon Residential Specialty Code (ORSC) on April 1, 2021. In recognition of the significance of some of the changes in this code, as well as COVID-19 and the recent wildfires, BCD has agreed to implement a 6-month grace period following April 2021 and ending October 1, 2021. During this period, we anticipate contractors will have the ability to choose to comply with either the 2017 or 2021 ORSC with new permit applications. Permit applications starting October 1, 2021 will need to comply with the provisions of the new code. For more detailed information click the button below.
